Italian beaches introduce daily restrictions and entry fees

Access to the beaches of Sardinia this season decided to limit. Now, to get there, you need to book a place in advance.

Some beaches in Sardinia, an island in western Italy, will have some of the strictest daily footfall restrictions. So, no more than 300 tourists per day will be allowed to Cala dei Gabbiani, 300 visitors to Cala Biriala, 250 to Cala Goloritsa, and 700 to Cala Mariola.

La Pelosa Beach in Sardinia has introduced a ban on beach towels – fines start at 100 euros. The tiny Cala Goloritze can only be reached on foot or by boat, and adults will have to pay 6 euros at the entrance, and children under 10 years old will pay 1 euro.

You can book a place on the beaches of Sardinia through the Heart of Sardinia app. It is recommended to place an order at least 72 hours before the visit. Beaches that require an entrance fee can be paid online or in cash at the entrance.

It should be noted that this summer in Italy, not only beaches will charge an entrance fee and limit tourist flow. The Minister of Tourism of Italy has already announced that visiting the historic Pantheon in Rome is becoming paid, although admission was previously free.
