Two friends unusually celebrated round dates – they made an 80-day trip around the world. During this time, the ladies managed not only to visit all seven continents but also became the stars of social networks.
We are talking about our best friends from Texas Ally Hamby and Sandy Hazelip, who turned 80 years old: they decided to celebrate the anniversary by traveling the world in three months. The pandemic pushed the dates of the trip a little, but the dream came true a year later.
The adventurous ladies have been friends for 23 years. It’s not the first time they have traveled together, but they decided to travel around the world just now. Relatives doubted that their crazy plan would ever come true.
“The idea came to Sandy. She said, ‘Ellie, why don’t we travel around the world in 80 days when we’re 80?’” Ellie Hamby said.
They started their trip from the very south of the Earth – from Antarctica. The travelers also visited Easter Island, saw the northern lights, and took pictures with penguins, elephants, and lions.
“We’ve been to the North Pole and sledding in Lapland. We’ve been to Zanzibar. We’ve been to Egypt, India, Nepal, Bali, Japan, Rome, and London,” Hamby told NBC5.
To inspire others, Hamby and Hayselip shared their experiences on TikTok, with over 50,000 followers and nearly a million likes on the video.
“We were very moved that so many people followed our adventure,” Haiselip told USA Today.
Returning home exactly 80 days later, the friends admitted that the trip did not tire them at all.
“You get tired of vacation. But it was not a vacation, but an adventure that encourages you to move on,” the woman added.
The newly minted bloggers hope that they were able to inspire future generations and their peers not to be afraid of risk and thrills.
“We hope that we will serve as an example that it is never too late to go on the” expedition of a lifetime “, the women state.
