“Please fix this asap, it’s like hell!” – this is how outraged tourists described the unbearable conditions they had to face at the Phuket airport. The problem, according to Phuket News, turned out to be a failure of the air conditioning system in the international terminal. And also in the fact that the company Airports of Thailand (AoT Phuket), which manages the airport, did not immediately react to the problems.
Tourists have been actively complaining on social media for several days, reporting that the airport is unbearably hot. Considering the money they have to pay for the trip, they have the right to expect better, they said. Moreover, some claimed that they had appealed to the management company, but there was no answer, and as a result, one of the local deputies reached out to the Ministry of Transport so that someone would solve this problem.
In the end, Airports of Thailand (AoT Phuket) admitted that “the temperature was elevated” and that the reason was that “two cooling systems failed, one of which caused a problem in the air conditioning system inside the building.”
The management company also says it “immediately” carried out emergency repairs, including replacing the fluid inside the system, and ordered replacement parts for the upgrade. And in an emergency, tourists were rescued from the heat with mobile air conditioners. The final press release posted photos where the temperature in the airport hall dropped to an acceptable +24-25 degrees.
