This year, it’s not just Santa Claus who will be flying fully loaded. Six out of ten travelers (60 percent) who are going on a trip in December admit that they plan to fill their suitcases not only with gifts but also with at least one of the “New Year’s” items, Breaking Travel News reports.
Travelers are filling their luggage with Christmas jumpers, macaroons, outfits, board games, and decorations, with one respondent even planning to take home a can of beans.
Research carried out by Opinium on behalf of Vueling — part of IAG and Europe’s key low-cost airline — shows that 60 percent of travelers plan to overload their suitcases, with 18-34-year-olds leading the way among those planning to pack gifts, board games, and Christmas sweaters.
More than a quarter of those surveyed would also pack chocolate, almond cakes, and Christmas pudding. Tea bags, cans of tinned beans, and a flask also feature in responses about New Year’s “must-have” items.
It’s interesting to note that more than 65 percent of women take care of wrapping gifts and groceries ahead of the holidays. They also lead the way in generosity, as more than 45 percent of them bring gifts for loved ones, compared with just over 30 percent of men.
