In the Italian resort town of Orbetello, a massive invasion of unpleasant insects continues, which causes discomfort to both locals and tourists, La Nazione reports.
Moshkara, which flooded the resort in the Tuscany region, reduced the flow of tourists by as much as 60%. Despite the dry and hot weather, midges breed even despite all the measures taken by the local authorities.
The city administration urged residents not to turn on the lights in their homes at night and regularly carry out pest control, but so far this has not yielded positive results.
Residents are prohibited from opening windows and doors in their homes, as well as going outside for an hour after special disinfection procedures have been carried out.
