Tourists were amused in Turkey: the Ministry of Health of Turkey disclosed information on contaminated beaches, and it turned out that there were very few of them. Out of 1,445 surveyed beaches in Turkey, only 54 beaches received a “poor” rating, that is, about 3%.
The Turkish beaches, which are the most popular among tourists, were “marked” with an “excellent” rating. However, to what extent such a study from an interested organization is objective – it is up to you to decide…
“During the monitoring studies, 17 thousand 28 samples were taken. Bathing sites were classified as “excellent”, “good”, “satisfactory” and “poor” according to the regulations. According to the ministry, 1,140 out of 1,445 observation points, i.e. 79 percent of all swimming points, received “excellent” rating, the Turkish press quoted. It is also separately emphasized that “the quality of water for swimming is controlled by the legislation of the European Union.”
As the Ministry of Health explained, samples are taken by provincial health departments every 15 days at control points set up in bathing areas, and “thoroughly analyzed in health laboratories.” Pools are also checked.
“The Ministry shares all data on bathing water with the public through the web portal yuzme.saglik.gov.tr. This platform has detailed information such as technical information about bathing spots, quality classification by year, beach names, and features. You can get information about the results of the analysis of swimming areas, lifeguard services, beach catering, changing cabins and showers. Access to photos of bathing spots and up-to-date information about the area is also provided,” added for tourists.
