Spain has overtaken even “cheap” winter destinations such as Turkey and Egypt in terms of popularity among Europeans. All three first places in the rating of the British tour operator On The Beach were taken by Spanish resorts, primarily the Canary Islands, which account for 40% of all bookings. Spain was followed by Turkey.
Another symptom is the transition of Europeans to “all-inclusive”: the number of all-inclusive reservations made in the winter period increased by 8% compared to 2019 and reached 57%. Also, On The Bech noted that the number of reservations in five-star hotels increased by 20% compared to 2019.
So, the demand for winter vacation was distributed as follows:
- Canary Islands – 40%
- Spain 17.2%
- Balearic Islands 8.5%
- Turkey 6.9%
- Greece 6.9%
- Portugal 4.9%
- Egypt 3.8%
- Cyprus 2.7%
- Malta 2.5%
- Morocco 2.1%
As for the cost of recreation, Spain is not far behind here either. The top 10 British tourists looks like this. The cost of a week’s rest is presented as follows:
- Malta – £282.57
- Balearic Islands – £294.89
- Spain – £305.93
- Morocco – £311.69
- Portugal – £355.03
- Turkey – £364.37
- Greece – £364.91
- Egypt – £378.47
- Cyprus – £384.95
- Canaries – £396.23
