In Turkey, they are trying to solve the problem of where to evict earthquake victims from hotels in Antalya. At least, according to Turkish media, government officials have already found two options. One of which is again directly related to hotels and resorts. However, difficulties will most likely arise during its implementation.
The idea is simple – while the spring and summer season is about to open for Turkey’s beach resorts, the season is just ending in the country’s ski resorts, which suffered this season from the lack of snow. And as part of the search for a solution, where to place the victims of the earthquake, who are currently living in hotels in Antalya and other resorts, it is proposed to use “mountain skiing” facilities.
However, Turkish experts immediately discovered a problem — ski hotel capacities in Turkey are much smaller than beach ones. So, among the ski resorts, Uludag has 17 hotels with 5 thousand beds, Kartalka – has 14 hotels with 1.7 thousand beds, Erjies – has 13 hotels with 1 thousand beds, etc. In general, the total capacity is preliminarily about 15,000 seats. While about 75,000 victims from the earthquake zone have already been accommodated in Antalya.
The second option, which was announced by the Turkish state administration, is the project for private individuals “Let my house be your house”. As part of the project, those with a second home will rent it to a family affected by the earthquake for one year, with the district governor’s administration paying the rent, electricity, water, and natural gas. The Turkish mass media note that in conditions where rents are growing exponentially, this is an attractive proposition in its own way. However, so far the project participants are also no more than 10,000.
The date after which a difficult solution to the issue of refugees housed in hotels will be required is also tentatively named. And it is already considered the middle of March, until which there is little time left.
