Hotels and restaurants continue to remain in the top five sectors of the “national economy” that have risen in price the most in Turkey – such data were presented by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), which published consumer and producer price indices for July. At the same time, the main figures are as follows – if in July inflation reached only 2.37%, then over the year, last season, it increased by a shocking 79.6%.
At the same time, among the industries with the highest price growth in July, the hotel and restaurant business took the “bronze”, taking third place in terms of price growth rates. Prices in hotels and restaurants in Turkey increased by almost 2.5%. The fastest growing prices are only in the field of health care — almost 7%, as well as in the field of food and soft drinks — 3.15%. This, by the way, also affects the restaurant business: now not everyone can eat in a restaurant in Turkey – this also applies to tourists.
As for the areas with the largest increase in prices for the year, hotels and restaurants are in fifth place. They showed a 79.14% increase, and such rates of price growth are truly shocking. In the first place is transportation, which is no stranger to tourism, which showed an almost 120% increase in prices, also over the year the prices of food products increased by almost 95% and an important product for “all-inclusive” – alcoholic beverages – by 83%.
“In July, prices in restaurants and hotels increased by 2.49% compared to the previous month, by 48.51% compared to December of the previous year, by 79.14% compared to the same month of the previous year, and by 51.99% compared to average indicators for 12 months”, – declare the Turkish mass media, upsetting the tourists.
