According to ABC News, in the United States, a plane taking off from New York to Liege (Belgium) was forced to return to the airport because of a horse that was breaking out of its stall equipped on board.
“We are a cargo plane with a live animal, a horse, on board. The horse was able to escape from its stall. There are no problems with the flight, but we need to return to New York because we cannot subdue the horse,” the Boeing 747 pilot told the dispatcher.
The crew asked to send a veterinarian to the airport to help subdue the animal.
The incident occurred half an hour after takeoff when the plane rose to an altitude of more than 9,400 m. The plane had to circle over the Atlantic Ocean to dump about 20 tons of fuel and land safely at New York airport.
