The tourist wanted to eat and, deciding to save on the cafe, cooked chicken with garlic and oil right in the coffee maker of the hotel room, which he talked about on the LinkedIn social network. However, users are “enthusiastic” about the economical traveler.
A traveler named Oleksandr published a post with a detailed description of his recipe and cooking method in the hope of receiving praise for his cleverness, but he saw the opposite reaction: users of the social network were horrified, and many called his idea “crazy” and “ridiculous.”
“I travel for work and instead of having a nice dinner in a restaurant, I decided to cook a cheaper meal in a hotel room. Even though there was no kitchen, I managed to use the coffee maker to cook chicken with oil and garlic. Although my company allows me to pay for dinner while traveling, I wanted to save because I know every dollar counts. These are the little things that help you get promoted,” he wrote.
A tourist named Emily, who shared his post on her account, captioned the screenshot: “LinkedIn is invisible as a social media platform, but it’s absolutely the craziest.” Thousands of people were equally outraged by the idea of an “entrepreneurial” traveler — the post garnered 264,000 likes and 25,000 retweets.
One commenter commented on what he saw: “I’m pretty sure for the amount he spent on those ingredients, he could have just bought himself a couple of hot dogs and reduced his chance of food poisoning from 100% to 50%.” “He’s been promoted to the point where he’s a freak, that’s what,” replied another. While a third wrote: “Can we normalize the fact that we never do this and don’t make excuses for doing it to get a promotion?!”
Among those who spoke was an employee of the hospitality industry. “In a past life I ran a small hotel, people who do this were worse guests – actually more people than you think do, not to mention the ones who sterilize needles and wash underwear and do other crazy shit” – he explained.
However, some suggested that the author of the post was probably joking about using the hotel’s coffee machine: “He did it to laugh at the wave that will start after reading this post, no matter how weird the “corporate people” on LinkedIn are. He’s great,” one user noted.

However, earlier another post caused even more horror among social network users. It is about a record with the following content: “A friend of mine worked in a hotel in Italy a few years ago. He was cleaning the toilet after one of the bus tours when he noticed food on the inside of the bidet. “Guests used it to cook noodles,” he stated with shock.
Earlier this year, a foreign tourist shared a photo of his post-festival shredded beef strip soup on Reddit. It would have been nothing, but the hungry traveler could not find a better way to boil it in the pot of a coffee maker than to provoke the indignation of other travelers. He captioned the photo: “The hotel’s coffee maker made beef strips after the music festival.” In the picture, strips of beef, half-cooked, were floating in water inside the coffee maker.
Probably, after reading such stories, tourists will never want to drink tea/coffee in a hotel room again.
