A scary incident with a fatal outcome occurred in the baggage handling hall in New Orleans in the USA. A female baggage handler died after her hair got caught in a conveyor belt that effectively scalped her.
The accident occurred at the end of August while unloading a Frontier Airlines plane that had just landed. Germanie Thompson, 26, worked on the apron, the area where luggage is sent after the plane has parked. The worker’s long loose hair got caught in the conveyor belt, as a result, before she could be helped, the woman’s scalp was literally removed.
The employee was taken to the hospital, but she could not be helped, and the woman died soon after. A representative of GAT Airline Ground Support, where she worked, confirmed that her hair got stuck in a conveyor belt. It is not known whether there will be any consideration in this regard.
