A 9-year-old tourist from New York was killed less than an hour after arriving in the Dominican Republic for spring break. Robbers shot and killed a boy who was traveling with his father in a rented car from the airport to the hotel.
Gioser Luis Feliz arrived with his father in Santiago and got into a rented car to get to the hotel. According to police, a group of men began to chase the vehicle, tried to stop it, and rob it. Seeing that the car did not stop, the criminals opened fire, and one of the bullets hit the boy in the head. Gyoser died in the hospital on the operating table.
Police arrested six suspects two days later. At least one of them knew the father of the deceased boy, Sergio Luis Felis. The man suggests that a travel photo posted on social networks could serve as a tip for the crime.
Dominican President Luis Abinader called the assassination a “terrible crime”.
“Since I learned about the death of the child Gioser Luis Feliz, I have been following the developments in this case. I was informed by the chief of the national police about the arrest of 5 criminals who committed this terrible crime. Now justice must be ensured in the courts,” the president wrote.
