Russian tourists were detained in Thailand in the course of a forced raid, and more than 30 policemen, from the special forces, were needed to storm the villa. According to the Thai publication Thaiger, at a luxurious villa on Bang Tao beach in Phuket, the police “engaged in a brutal fight with foreigners.”
It all started when four officials from the Phuket Provincial Immigration Department, accompanied by officers from the Cheng Talai Police Station, raided the luxury villa, armed with an arrest warrant for an Indian man accused of “making threats and inciting fear among the public”. However, the Indian was absent, instead, police officers met the Russian and demanded to check his documents. The Russian’s visa had expired, which is why the police decided to transfer him to the police station for further legal action.
But here the situation changed dramatically: another foreigner came out of the shelter in the villa, swinging a baseball bat and trying to beat the police. According to the publication, faced with such a threat, the police had to retreat and turn to the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team for help. Later, more than 30 special forces fighters arrived at the villa and “successfully took control of foreign persons.”
As a result of the vacation at the villa, the wanted Indian was discovered, as well as three other foreigners. Only one Russian was named, the rest of the persons and nationalities remain undisclosed. All of them have overstayed their visas, but details have not yet been released.
We will remind you that earlier the Thai authorities decided to reduce the number of tourists in the popular country with the participation of local residents. These are long-term travelers with expired visa documents and those who work illegally. To catch them, the officials of the resort island of Phuket launched an application and taught locals how to use it to report foreigners.
