In Thailand, local police are dealing with the tragic outcome of a pool party: in Pattaya, a British tourist killed a Russian with a single punch. As they write in the Thai media, the Briton claims that everything happened on a sexual basis – the Russian allegedly harassed his daughter.
The incident occurred late at night in the Bang Lamung area. The police and ambulance were called around 2:50 am. It turned out that at a local party, 36-year-old citizen Igor was knocked down by a British man, fell and hit his head on the floor, receiving life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, during transportation to the Bangkok hospital in Pattaya, Igor’s condition deteriorated sharply, and the tourist was pronounced dead upon arrival.
After which law enforcement officers quickly began to identify and detain the suspect. At 13:00 on the same day, Superintendent of the Pattaya City Police Station, Police Lieutenant Colonel Navin Thirawit, instructed investigators to seek an arrest warrant for 35-year-old British man Ricky. A warrant was quickly issued and police arrested him on charges of assault resulting in death.
The British man was detained at a guest house in the Sattahip area of Chonburi, about 10 kilometers from the scene of the incident. He was immediately taken to the Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and further proceedings. The British man’s 28-year-old Thai wife, Maude, also got involved and provided the main explanations. According to her, it was a party of a group of friends at a villa with a swimming pool, from which the Thai woman herself had to leave early. After receiving an alarming message from her husband at around 3 a.m. asking him to return, Maud rushed back to the villa and found him wandering in the middle of the street.
She went on to recount her husband’s version of events, pointing out that Igor allegedly made inappropriate advances toward their daughter during the party, despite his wife being present. Allegedly, the Russian’s actions “escalated into sexual harassment against their daughter,” which provoked Rika’s violent reaction. He dealt Igor one blow, which turned out to be fatal.
The Briton admitted to his actions and said that he “did not foresee the tragic consequences.” The investigation is ongoing.
