According to El Pais, in the city of Cuernavaca in Mexico, a suspension bridge collapsed during the opening ceremony.
As a result, about two dozen people were injured, including the head of the city administration. Of these, 12 wounded were hospitalized with fractures and injuries, and two are in serious condition.
The publication writes that the suspension bridge collapsed just at the moment when the mayor of the city of Cuernavaca, Julio Uriostegi, his wife, officials, and residents were on it.
Medics and rescuers arrived at the scene. The reasons for the incident are not yet known, but the city hall suggests that the bridge collapsed because visitors started jumping on it.
