In Samarkand, the police used stun guns on tourists from Kazakhstan, after which they were forcibly taken to the police station.
The incident occurred on the night of May 20-21 while checking the identity of tourists. According to the surviving video, the detainees behaved politely and asked to be allowed to leave, but the situation soon escalated into a conflict.
It is noted that the officers of the patrol service of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Samarkand “grossly violated the norms of professional ethics, abused their official position and powers to use special technical means.”
On this fact, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country and the prosecutor’s office are conducting an investigation. Police officers and their supervisors may face dismissal and prosecution.
