In Hong Kong, two tourists were found with 132 kg of drugs

The South China Morning Post reports that Hong Kong police have arrested two foreign tourists after finding 132 kg of cocaine worth HK$120 million in their hotel room.

The detainees are a 47-year-old Dominican and a 44-year-old Colombian. They also had Spanish passports with them. The foreigners arrived in Hong Kong at the end of January from Spain with a layover in London.

Hong Kong police said it was the largest cocaine seizure in 2024. Last year, a total of 3,537 kg of cocaine was seized, which is 55.7% more than the previous year.

The maximum penalty for drug trafficking in Hong Kong is life imprisonment and a fine of HK$5 million (about US$641,000).
