In Germany, they decided to organize tourist excursions to the military training ground where Ukrainian soldiers train. This is reported by the German publication Bild.
It is about the “Münster” training ground, located in western Germany. This is the largest military training ground of the Bundeswehr, where the German army has been training since the time of the German Empire. Recently, the Ukrainian military has been actively training at the training ground. In particular, it was here that Ukrainians were taught how to handle Leopard 2 tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles.
A local tour company, Munster Touristik, has reportedly been running bus tours of the test site since 2008. Tickets for them were always sold out by 100% in previous years, but now the interest in these tours has increased significantly – precisely because of the war in Ukraine and the training of the Ukrainian military that takes place here.
Moreover, the company would like to increase the number of excursions to meet demand, but since it is an active training ground, the last word is always with the military.
“It’s almost like a safari. The interest [in tours] has grown tremendously because of the war in Ukraine – it’s fascinating that they train soldiers who then fight at the front. I know some friends who wanted to book a visit, but it’s almost impossible.” , – one of the tourists told journalists.
A tour of the military training ground, from where Ukrainians then go to the front, costs only 35 euros for German tourists.
