Two tourists have told how they made a very expensive €500 mistake while traveling by boat in France.
According to them, they were relaxing on a restaurant boat where they could buy food. The twins Cassidy and Leah Armbruster hadn’t planned on ordering food since they had appetizers, but they soon decided to order pizza.
However, that day this dish was not there and they were offered pasta. The girls agreed, thinking that they would have pasta prepared for them at the usual price, without specifying anything.
An hour later they were brought pasta worth 500 euros, which was served with lobster.
“The captain was French and argued with the restaurant boat for charging us such a sum. In the end, my friend just paid the bill to avoid the problem,” the tourist shared.
Lobsters are known to be quite an expensive dish, partly due to the limited supply – they are caught in the wild, not farmed. Also, the cost is affected by the extra charge for transportation, because they need to be transported alive to maintain freshness. Of course, establishments additionally set the price taking into account preparation, presentation, and service.
