According to Figaro, residents of the city of Colmar in France complained about the appearance of dead fish in the Loches River after an action by environmental activists from Extinction Rebellion.
The action involved coloring water bright green using a fluorescent dye. It was directed against government plans to dump more than 40,000 tons of toxic waste as part of the Stocamine project.
According to the mayor of Colmar, Eric Straumann, after the action, local residents noticed dead fish floating on the surface of the water. According to him, he personally counted at least a dozen fish.
The police have already arrested the activist who poured the dye into the river. Extinction Rebellion denies all allegations and says the paint is harmless.
