In Egypt, as part of the project to develop the pyramids of Giza, a route of electric cars and electric buses was launched for tourists who want to visit the monument. This was reported by DIP concerning the Ministry of Tourism of the country.
The route was launched as part of a cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the private sector. The route includes seven stops, including near the pyramids and observation decks. The stops are equipped with Wi-Fi, information desks, and chargers for mobile phones. ATMs are installed there, souvenir shops and grocery stores operate, and other services for tourists are provided.
A restaurant complex has been built on the territory of the route, where about ten food establishments will open. Currently, there is one restaurant. There is a parking lot for a thousand cars nearby.
The Secretary-General of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, Mustafa Waziri, explained that the project was designed to “provide a premium tourism experience with the least effort for holidaymakers while preserving the archaeological area”.
According to the chairman of the board of directors of the company Orascom Pyramids, Hisham Gadalla, the launch of the ecologically safe transport system is important for the implementation of Egypt’s plans to reduce carbon emissions and to prepare for the COP27 climate summit in Sharm el-Sheikh in November.
Earlier it was reported that the representative of the UN on climate change in Egypt, Mahmoud Mohieldin, called for discussion at the next conference on saving the planet (COP27) on one topic: adaptation of humanity to global warming. The politician said that people mistakenly assume that they can do fantastically well with mitigation, so they don’t worry about it.
