In Antalya, it was reported that tourists of which nationality give more tips.

The Turkish province of Antalya receives millions of tourists every year, and each vacationer contributes not only to the economy of the region but also to the pockets of the service staff. As it turned out, generous tips are most often left by German tourists. The degree of generosity, as a rule, depends on the degree of satisfaction with the hotel’s services, emphasized Antalya hotel experts, whose comments were published by the Turkish portal Gun Haber.

Tourism in the city and the province of the same name is growing. Thus, experts predict the arrival of 17 million guests this year. We will remind you, according to open reports, that 11 million guests have already visited the region over the past 9 months. The high level of service offered in hotels is rewarded by vacationers in the form of tips. Friendly staff, service assistance in various services — all this encourages vacationers to thank the service with the help of tips.

However, not all nationalities follow this practice. Redzep Yavuz, head of the working group on tourism of the Antalya City Council, gave a relevant example: “The Japanese, for example, do not give tips. They see this gesture as a shame. But the Germans always try to thank them for the services provided and leave a tip in the amount of about 10% of the total amount of the bill. Americans, on the other hand, regard tips as already included in the bill.” However, the expert forgot to clarify that last summer the Germans preferred to save on the fall of the Turkish lira and thanked the staff not with euro banknotes, as was previously customary, but with Turkish currency, which is rapidly depreciating.

But Erdal Altundag, the head of the team that serves a 5-star hotel in the Kundu district, complained about the cheapening of his labor: “Germans from European countries give a lot of tips. Previously, our guests gave foreign currency and banknotes, but now mostly coins.”

At the same time, some tourists practice incentivizing the service staff with coins that have gone out of circulation. “There are tourists who give the staff money that has gone out of circulation,” he added. “Unfortunately, such cases also happen.”
