Stunning figures for the flow of tourists came from Turkey: the number of tourists who came to the resort of Antalya in 5 months amounted to a record 2.5 million, which is 223% more than in the same period last year. According to the agency’s report for the period from January 1 to May 31, in Antalya, Turkey’s largest city where foreign tourists are received, in 5 months of 2022 2,415,305 vacationers arrived by air in the coastal city, which is 223% more than in the same period last year. In May 2022, 1,198,110 tourists arrived, which is 297% more than in the same month last year.
The governor’s statement said that in the 5 months of 2022, the number of tourists visiting the coastal city by air has doubled over the previous two years. Thus, the tourist flow from January to May 2020 amounted to 509,362 people, in 2021 – 747,159 people, and this year – 2,415,305 people.
In the first place this year, German tourists “escaped” – in the Antalya resorts since the beginning of the year, most of them were, even though in recent years, the South Turkish city has received the most tourists from Russia. According to experts, the schedule was influenced by the war in Ukraine.
Germany became the country with the largest number of vacationers in Antalya in 5 months, with 595,837 tourists on its account. In second place were Russia and 367,749 tourists. Third place – in the UK with 282.92 tourists. Ukraine, which was in the top 3 last year, dropped out of the rankings this year. The other countries that send the most tourists to Antalya in 5 months are the Netherlands, Poland, Israel, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Iran, and Denmark.
