Are you going to Egypt, but don’t know which resort to choose? Is there a significant difference between a vacation in Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada? Which one wins in terms of entertainment, sightseeing and diving? In fact, both Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada have their pros and cons, clear advantages and certain nuances. Let’s look at them in detail.
Geographic differences
Sharm el-Sheikh is located at the very edge of the Sinai Peninsula, its center in Naama Bay. This place is also called the Egyptian and Arab Las Vegas, you can immediately imagine its spirit and atmosphere.
Hurghada is located on the western coast of the Red Sea, stretched along the coastline. Each hotel is practically a small town next to others, surrounded by desert.
Both in Hurghada and Sharm, tourists can enjoy the beautiful (albeit very salty) Red Sea, scorching sun, hookah, seafood, camels and Arabian nights.
Charm – for people who like to hang out
Sharm-el-Sheikh should be chosen by lovers of parties, traffic, nightlife, and urban rhythm. Whichever hotel you stay in, you will be in the heart of the action. During the day, the scorching sun and beach rest await you, a measured pastime, and with the onset of darkness, everything comes to life, the streets are lit up with a thousand lights, music plays from all sides, and so on until the morning.
It is home to the world famous (some even say the best) night club Pacha Sharm el Sheikh. The most famous DJs, including David Guetta and Armen Van Bugren, often play live networks in its walls every day. But be prepared for the fact that if you stay in the very center, you will hear the echoes of discotheques almost until dawn in your hotel room.
Hurghada – for family tourists
Hurghada is suitable for family holidays. Each hotel, as a rule, has a huge area. Outside of them there is little entertainment, only a few restaurants, shops and a small market. Therefore, everything is thought out so that you get the maximum without leaving the gate. Each hotel has several swimming pools, cafes, snack bars and restaurants.
If you have “all inclusive”, all you can do all day is move from one place to another, taste countless dishes and drinks. There may also be water slides and rides. Animation for children and adults must be organized during the day and in the evenings: sports, games, performances, discos.
Points of interest
If you are going to Egypt to see the pyramids, Cairo and Giza, Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, it is better to choose Hurghada. It is much closer to them than Sharm el-Sheikh, there are a lot of one-day tours. And, of course, the pyramids and Karnak Temple in Luxor are worth seeing.
From Sharm el-Sheikh, you can take an excursion to Mount Sinai (starts late at night) and meet the dawn there. For several hours, you climb the mountain with the whole group, and then, tired but happy, you wait for the dawn at the very top. These are unique experiences, worth trying at least once in your life.
In Sharm el-Sheikh, even on a public beach, swimming with a mask is much more interesting. Around a hundred fish of various colors.
Diving and snorkeling
Both entertainments are available in Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh, but the latter is better in this regard. In Hurghada, it is possible to go to the islands of Magavish and Giftun. You can also snorkel near the shore or near it, see fish and corals, but frankly, not very much.
In Sharm el-Sheikh, even on a public beach, swimming with a mask is much more interesting. Around a hundred fish of various colors. Be careful not to touch them, as well as the piles under the bridge: you may get burns on your hands. A special treat is an excursion to the Ras Mohammed National Park. Here you can go diving, swim along colorful coral walls and among fish.
Summary
Otherwise, there are probably no significant differences between Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada. In addition to the above, the beautiful (albeit very salty) Red Sea, the scorching sun, hookah, seafood, camels and Arabian nights await you both there and there.
