In Antalya, the damage to hotels and tourism in total for two years of the pandemic was estimated. The losses are huge – only the decline in revenues reached $ 9 billion, such figures were announced by the President of the Antalya Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ATSO) Davut Chetin
“Last year we reached only 60% of 2019 in tourism. If we count the decline in tourists and incomes in 2019, we have lost 18 million tourists in 2 years. Accordingly, if Antalya’s profit from tourists is $ 300, it means a loss of $ 6 billion over two years. At the beginning of the pandemic, we said that we would lose about 20 billion lire in 2020, “said the expert. Mr. Chetin stressed that such a loss of tourism due to the pandemic would be fatal for the ordinary city. “But Antalya remained standing and surpassed Turkey in terms of average tourism,” he added.
He also encouraged the tourism business, saying that “in recent months, the appetite for investment in tourism has grown again. “In recent months, investment certificates in the field of tourism have started to appear again. This means that if there are no problems with financing and relevant investment loans, the investment front will also recover, “he added.
It should be noted that in terms of tourism, experts expect to restore Antalya to a “pre-existing” level in 2022. What threatens Ukrainian tourists with a serious clash for a place under the sun with Europeans. However, unless the pandemic and politics intervene.
