Airports around the world have several architectural and design features for specific purposes. And not only in order to reduce the stress of the passenger or to ensure the convenience of his handling of luggage, but some of them – a kind of manipulation of space in order to “dilute” the passenger to spend as much money as possible. At least on his Yandex.Zen channel, the expert cited the following five “tricks” from airports:
- “All modern airports are made in one style – minimalism, because people are alarmed in advance, a large bright space with a natural light source calms the passenger,” – said the expert. But it’s not just a good goal – the blogger says it has long been known that people are more likely to enter a room with a natural light source than an artificial one, and therefore spend money there.
- All airports are divided into a controlled area and an uncontrolled one. As a rule, any uncontrolled area is made so that tourists do not linger in it. For example, almost no airport in the check-in area has seats so that tourists do not stay there and rather go for a pre-flight inspection in the “clean” area. Where exactly are all the seats, as well as most of the duty-free and other shops that “claim” the tourist’s money.
- “The airport infrastructure is designed so that after checking in at the check-in area, you spend exactly as long as your luggage is checked for prohibited items.”, – the blogger notes. As a result, if the tourist does not have time to go far and during the pre-flight inspection it is easy to turn back.
- At most airports, the entrance to the “clean zone” waiting room is through duty-free, and this is specifically for tourists to go through the shopping malls and possibly buy something. There is a direct passage. “I flew during the lockdown, when all the shops were closed and the passage was opened straight,” says the blogger.
- “The road from the plane to the baggage claim hall is specially made long (on the way you can still go to the toilet and see beautiful pictures), so that while you were walking, luggage had time to send to extradition zone and you didn’t wait long (and didn’t complain)”, – he reveals the fifth, relatively” free “reception.
