On Tuesday, December 5, archaeologists will open three secret doors found in the Cheops pyramid. This was stated by Zahi Hawass, former Minister of State for Antiquities of Egypt, and now the country’s leading archaeologist, reports The Sun.
One of the mysterious doors is reported to be located near the southern entrance to the second chamber of the tomb. It has two copper handles. Behind it, at a distance of 21 centimeters, there is a second door. The third door is located in the northern tunnel. There is a possibility that the door is also hidden behind it for symmetry.
Upon discovery, Hawass called the stone doors a major discovery that left him with more questions than answers.
It is noted that several studies have already been carried out around the doors, but so far no answers have been found to questions about their purpose and what is hidden behind them.
Having opened all the doors on December 5, scientists hope to finally unravel the secrets of the Cheops pyramid.
The Great Pyramid is also known as the Pyramid of Khufu and was built around 2570 BC as the final resting place of Pharaoh Khufu. It contains three chambers, including the so-called queen’s chamber.
