According to the Daily Express, Greece is adopting new rules for beaches and their use ahead of the summer season.
Under the new rules, sun loungers will be banned on 70% of Greece’s beaches. There should be no sun loungers at all on beaches located in ecological zones, and 85% of beaches should remain free of sun loungers in protected areas.
Where sun loungers are allowed, they must be 4m from the water, and there will also be a certain distance between sun loungers. The number of vacationers on one section of the beach will be limited. Owners and tenants of beach areas will be required to equip sports grounds on each beach.
They want to make at least half of the beaches public, with free access for everyone.
It is planned to use drones to monitor compliance with laws on beaches.
These innovations will ensure equal access to beaches and create more comfortable conditions for vacationers. They will come into force this spring.
