Germany’s largest airport cancels hundreds of flights

About 300 flights were canceled at Frankfurt am Main Airport due to bad weather. This was stated by the management company Fraport.

The German weather service earlier said that the arrival of Cyclone Gertrude would lead to a “stormy situation of snow and freezing rain” in most parts of the country in the middle of the week. Thus, heavy snowfalls are expected in the central part of Germany today.

Yesterday, January 17, Frankfurt airport canceled more than 500 flights, Munich — more than 250. Flight cancellations also affected the airports of Düsseldorf and Cologne.

In addition, German railway operator Deutsche Bahn canceled several intercity flights. Bad weather led to an increase in the number of accidents on highways.
