An unusual incident occurred in Antalya: fishermen from a boat caught one of the largest coastal sharks in the world. The video of the incident quickly became popular on the Internet and aroused great interest among social network users.
As the Turkish publication Sabah clarified, the fishermen sailed from the shore of the resort village of Beldibi with the intention of catching a large fish. Suddenly, a sand shark, more than 1 meter long, was caught on the bait.
“We were trying to catch another fish when we suddenly hooked a sand shark. Even though it gave us a lot of trouble, we were able to bring it to the surface,” the fisherman later said.
Witnesses to this unusual incident watched the process with curiosity and recorded it on video. The fishermen added that they immediately released the shark.
It is noted that this species of shark is known for its peaceful behavior towards people and lives in temperate and tropical waters around the world, not just in Turkey. They are encountered by divers at depths from the surface to 200 meters. However, it is important for tourists to remember that this is a predator and to remain safe.
