The Greek Ministry of Health has banned entry into the sea at 12 beaches in the Attica region, BNR reports.
During the study of the quality of seawater in this area, the authorities found that there are areas with severe water pollution, which is dangerous for people’s health. Based on this, the Ministry of Health introduced a ban on entering and swimming in the sea in dangerous places.
In the Attica region, swimming is prohibited at beaches near all harbors and ship repair facilities.
It is forbidden to enter the entire length of the sea from the port of Piraeus to Perama and the entire inner length of the port of Rafina. The ban applies to 12 places.
Signs indicating the reason for the restriction were installed.
Although there are fines for violators, local authorities do not expect people to disobey because it is related to their health.
