Luxurious villas and five-star hotels with their helipads and yacht ports, high-speed metro and rail connections, island resorts a la Venice, and much more – such a development plan, similar to the resorts of the UAE, was presented by the Egyptian resort of Hurghada. The plan is designed for the long term – 20-30 years, but some projects are planned to be implemented shortly – in particular, the Cairo – Hurghada railway project.
The authors of the plan reminded us that the Hurghada resort is one of the most famous tourist brands in the world, which is visited by at least 5 million tourists of more than 100 nationalities per year. It is not surprising that it is given first place in the global development plan in Egypt.
The plan envisages the creation of several new resort areas and the development of existing ones – they include Sahl Hasheesh, the “new city” of Hurghada, Riviera City, and the resorts of Tavila, Makadi, and others. For example, it is planned that Sahl Hasheesh will become an “integrated city” on an area of almost 14 thousand acres, where it is designed to rebuild a lot of new infrastructures, including an amusement park, a safari zone, an opera house, as well as an underground high-speed subway line, congress – center, and university. Of course, it will not do without luxurious hotels – in particular, the residential quarter “Venice” is planned to be created in the largest lagoon on the Red Sea.
Tavila resort will become a local “Long Island” – a five-star hotel will be built on one of the islands of the Red Sea under the management of one of the most famous hotel brands in the world. The island will also have a marina, diving spots, and a helicopter landing pad. Moreover, this is also a project that is planned to be implemented in a few months.
In Safaga, the expansion of the already existing port is promised, which should become a new multi-purpose terminal with an area of 810,000 square meters and a depth of 17 m. A cruise and fishing port with all the infrastructure is planned here. The new project also includes the renovation of the Hurghada railway station – it will be taken over by the third line of the Egyptian Express. 6 trains with a speed of 250 km/h and 12 trains with a speed of 160 km/h will run throughout the territory of the resort between 3 stations. Is their route following? Safaga Station – Riviera Sahl Hasheesh Station – Hurghada Station.
