The Department of Tourism of the Indian state of Goa has issued recommendations for the safe and comfortable stay of vacationers. Guests of the region are urged to respect foreign borders and beware of local scammers.
In particular, to avoid conflicts, tourists are asked not to photograph strangers without permission, especially those who swim in the sea or sunbathe on the beach. It is also forbidden to take selfies in dangerous places, such as on slippery rocks and on the edge of cliffs. Accidents often occur in such places, so the authorities treat this issue strictly.
A similar policy applies to tourist sites and monuments: graffiti, destruction, and any desecration of national heritage are not allowed. In addition, there is already a ban on cooking and drinking alcohol on beaches. The exceptions are the specially designated areas for this: cafes, hotels, and restaurants.
For their safety, tourists are advised not to use the services of private taxi drivers. As a rule, they serve passengers not by the meter, but by a fixed, often inflated rate. The same applies to booking hotels, villas, and guide services: it is better to give preference to hotels and guides registered with the Department of Tourism.
