Disney theme parks are known for their fun, family attractions and entertainment. But that philosophy changed with the advent of one special attraction at Disneyland that was so scary that it closed forever less than 10 years after it opened. tourists in a fit of fear could barely catch their breath. The worst attraction of the “Disney World” was closed at the request of vacationers, according to the organizers of the amusement park.
The attraction, which opened in 1995, was a circular theater and took place simultaneously on three platforms. At the same time, guests were fastened to chairs so that they could not get up. At this time, an alien corporation called XS-Tech demonstrated to the audience its new teleportation technology, following the example of a small alien in the hall. But that was just the beginning.
The key character was a huge carnivorous alien with wings – he terrified all the guests of the show. The light went out, and the audience did not guess until the end of the spectacle, where the terrible alien creature will be in the next moment. This made goosebumps run down my back and took my breath away. The feeling of fear and panic that permeated each participant in these moments was so realistic that many adults, especially children, just could not stand – the audience felt the breath of an alien on the back of the head and saliva dripping from his mouth.
According to those who once experienced horrible entertainment, “video does not convey the feeling of being next to you, when you feel the vibrations of his walking, when he approaches you, you feel his breath on your neck and the wagging of his tail on his back.” In short, the participants were immersed in a horror film like “Alien”, but it was impossible to escape and hide.
In addition, during the performance, the guests shouted so loudly that they missed important dialogues and plot moments, which made it impossible to understand what was happening, and panic grew. At that moment, few of those present understood that this was not the real world.
The ride was the first Disney experience to create a completely thrilling, intimidating ride that immersed viewers in a horror movie. However, controversy was growing around him: guests regularly complained that he was too intimidating and “knocked out” of the concept of the Magic Kingdom. Moreover, children under 12 were not allowed to attend the show, which also caused complaints from parents.
As a result, the attraction closed in 2003 and was later replaced by a new one, more gentle on the nerves of the participants and more adapted to children. The basis was the children’s cartoon “Lilo and Stitch” – a Disney project about an evil alien who has to learn to care and love on Earth.
Recalling their experience of participating in the initial version of the attraction, social media users usually said that it was the worst moments of their lives. “I was so young when I went for it, and I swear it was the worst trip I’ve ever had. “I was horrified when I was offered Lilo and Stitch because I was still afraid of the first alien version,” wrote one. The second added: “All I remember is how I closed my eyes and cried all the time, putting my head on my mother’s lap. I still have nightmares about this trip.”
