The tourism sector has finally begun to recover from the damage caused by the spread of the coronavirus and its new variants. A recent report presented by Cyprus Mail revealed that revenues from the tourism sector increased by a total of 141% between January and July this year compared to the same period last year.
The Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cyprus, Savvas Perdios, emphasized that the country is trying to attract more tourists to the country, but is using a new strategy. “We have to attract people to Cyprus more positively and indirectly. We don’t want to attract people to the island by telling them it’s cheaper or that we don’t have covid, that’s not fair,” Perdios told the Sunday Mail about this. According to him, the good indicators recorded in 2022 in terms of tourist flow are the result of several years of market research, as well as targeting alternative markets.
