Cruise lines begin imposing curfews on minors

The world’s largest cruise ship operator by passenger numbers, Carnival Cruise Line, has imposed a curfew on all children and teenagers, keeping minors out of public areas after 1 a.m.

The new curfew policy will apply on Carnival Cruise Line cruises to minors aged 17 and under.

An exception will be made for children and adolescents accompanied by adults over 21 years of age. In the evening, you can also visit the children’s clubs: Club O2 is open for children aged 15 to 17 years, and Circle C is for children from 12 to 14 years old.

For parents traveling with young children, Carnival has introduced a special Night Owl program. You can “turn in” a child who is between 6 months and 11 years old to professionals for $7.5 per hour. The service is open from 22:00 to 01:00 at night.

Carnival also offers other useful services for families traveling with children: baby meals and extra cots in cabins, as well as on-board entertainment such as water slides, mini-golf, and even roller coasters.

Carnival isn’t the only company to impose a curfew on some guests. For example, Norwegian Cruise Line sent all teenage guests to their cabins. And also from midnight. “Teenagers must proceed to their cabins unless accompanied by a parent or guardian,” Norwegian rules say. “All crew members are instructed to report any instance of inappropriate behavior to the ship’s security.”

But Disney Cruise Line today has no restrictions for children, such as a curfew.
