Catastrophe in the whole resort of Turkey: hotels are closing, tourists are running everywhere

Technical problems caused a disaster in the whole resort of Turkey. The blackout of electricity for several days caused an almost complete flight of tourists, which in turn forced local hotels to close in an emergency order: some of them will never open again, completely bankrupt. A similar fate befell local merchants and restaurants: their owners were overwhelmed by the horror of such a disaster in the middle of the high tourist season.

As the president of the Association of Tourist Hotels of the South Aegean region (GETOB) Mustafa Deliveli stated, tourism in Datcha resort had to stop completely. “Hoteliers, shop owners, and citizens of the city – all suffered seriously. Tourists who stayed in hotels mostly left them, and those who planned to come are massively canceling their reservations,” he said.

In addition, according to him, the hotels had to “spend tons of diesel fuel” on the operation of generators, as a result of which this additional point of expenditure led to the fact that they are on the verge of destruction. But it’s even worse for those hotels that don’t have generators — they have to somehow negotiate with neighbors with generators to “save” at least the products.

Hotels in Dutch have reached the point where they are closing en masse. Datcha, the diamond of our tourism, does not deserve this,” he said. However, at the moment, the authorities of the Mugla province have stated that the electricity problem has been resolved. But what was the problem – the sources do not disclose, although it is possible that the terrible heat in Turkey is to blame – the infrastructure simply could not cope with the air conditioners turned on everywhere. Read the details in the article “Tourism is “covered with a copper basin”: the heat explosion in the Sahara will burn the resorts with hellish heat at +50°C.”

Our reference: Datca is a Turkish resort in the province of Mugla, located about an hour’s drive from Marmaris, on the Reshadia Peninsula. You can also get to the resort by ferry from Bodrum. The resort is unknown among Ukrainian tourists, the majority of vacationers are British tourists.
