A woman from the eastern province of Elyazg has turned a cafe inherited from her father into a women’s establishment in the village of Hal, İhlas news agency reported.
“We, the women of the village, are happy to be together, uniting,” Ayse Gunay, 55, told the news agency.
The café was run by Günay’s father for decades and served the men of the village.
“My father fed his five children with the money he earned from this local cafe,” Gunay said, adding: “After his death and retirement, I took control of it. But I wanted to make a change.”
Now it is a women’s cafe. “We play games, we dance, we have a good time,” says Pinar Ozlem Durak, a visitor to the cafe.
“No men, no worries,” says Burchin Kintar, another visitor, smiling. “Men are in their cafes, women are here. Everyone is calm.”
The place is intended for residents of the village of Hal, but some customers come from other cities.
Duygu Duman Gezgin is one of them who visits this place after listening to several recommendations.
“I came from the southern province of Antalya,” says Gezgin, adding: “I have never seen such a place anywhere. It’s great to be here.”
Günay stressed that some women from Istanbul, the capital of Ankara, and the northwestern province of Bursa came to the village just to see its café.
