If you have a trip through Vilnius Airport in the near future, then you can see the original creation – an egg decorated with things that cannot be carried in hand luggage. This installation, over 1.5 meters high, is adorned with over 1,000 knives, scissors, lighters, razors, and other prohibited items. Lithuanian airports thus remind passengers of important safety rules.
The egg was invented by the head of the airport’s security department, Algirdas Venzlauskas. He said that such an idea arose as more and more prohibited items began to appear in hand luggage, and with the onset of summer, their number will increase. Items left by passengers at the control were used for the installation. So these items “received a second life”.
“When a large number of such small and inexpensive things are collected, we dispose of them in accordance with the established procedure. this time the idea arose to put them to good use. Since all these things are multi-colored, they are suitable for decorating the egg, and it attracts the attention of passengers and fulfills an educational mission,” said Venzlauskas.
This is not the first installation of prohibited items. Three years ago, around Christmas, a Christmas tree was set up there, decorated with scissors, lighters, knives and shell casings. This idea attracted the attention of the world media.
