Today in Hurghada will begin the creation of three artificial dive sites. For the entertainment of tourists, the military department allocated 15 warships that had served their time. According to the Egyptian media, this is the first such experience of creating alternative natural diving locations in Egypt.
At sites in Shaab al-Sakala, Waruk al-Tawiel, and Arg-Gama in Magawish, near Hurghada, each ship will be gently sunk in its assigned place. According to Mohammed al-Bandari, secretary-general of the Red Sea Governorate, divers will be able to simultaneously explore military equipment and observe the marine life that has settled there.
The creation of non-traditional dive sites is intended to reduce pressure on natural coral reefs and increase the number of offers, according to Ahmed Gallab, director of Red Sea nature reserves. He noted that millions of vacationers who come to Hurghada every year will get more opportunities for diving tourism.
The governor of the province invited members of the Egyptian government and representatives of the countries of the Red Sea basin to the solemn ceremony of laying a new tourist attraction. Tourists will be able to get acquainted with underwater art objects and their inhabitants as part of excursions on glass-bottom ships and during group dives.
