“We will not allow Airbnb to harm tourism in Antalya,” said Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin, who attended a meeting organized by Akdeniz Touristic Hoteliers and Operations (AKTOB) at a hotel in Belek on the occasion of World Tourism Day.
The Antalya authorities have found a new target for persecution. And it is quite likely that Ukrainian owners who rent real estate in Antalya will also become victims.
According to Turizmajansi, it was Airbnb that the representatives of the tourism industry named as the reason for under-occupancy in hotels. Governor Shahin spoke very unambiguously on this matter: “Our chief of police, chief of gendarmerie and chief prosecutor are here. And believe me, they are all on our side. We make it our top priority to ensure that Antalya’s tourism does not suffer, despite all our actions. And we consider anything that could harm tourism as a primary target for prosecution. Airbnb is also included in this field,” he said.
