An underwater volcano began to erupt in Vanuatu. The volcano threw columns of ash into the sky. This is reported by RNZ.
The East Epi submarine volcano has reportedly been shaking and spewing steam since early Wednesday morning, February 1.
Over time, the volcano’s activity increased to explosions that scattered ash about 100 km around the underwater crater.
According to media reports, authorities asked people to stay away from the coast because the groundwater explosions could cause small tsunami waves.
Volcano eruption in Hawaii
We will remind you, at the end of November last year, the largest volcano in the world began to erupt in Hawaii. This eruption occurred for the first time since 1984.
As a precautionary measure, two shelters were opened on the island, but the lava does not yet threaten populated areas.
