As reported by TELE1 TV channel, about 100 people suspected of extorting tourists were arrested in Istanbul (Turkey). The cases of some criminals have already been brought to court.
The detainees are accused of luring city guests to entertainment venues and trying to force them to pay a large bill.
In total, 96 extortionists were detained for participating in such schemes; they demanded money from tourists, took away their mobile phones and wallets, and even beat up those who refused to pay.
It is clarified that the police simultaneously carried out operations to identify such criminals in 13 districts of Istanbul.
