An all-inclusive hotel in Hurghada has put tourists in intensive care. As a British couple who vacationed in Hurghada at an all-inclusive hotel complained to the DailyMail, the hotel restaurants poured new food on top of the old. This is especially dangerous in beach eateries, where food spoils quickly in the heat. As a result, one of the tourists is suspected of having hepatitis A.
The British press writes this: tourist Olivia Hartley was vacationing with her 31-year-old fiancé Thomas Wynn at a four-star all-inclusive resort in Hurghada. They had a week-long tour costing £1,400. Towards the end of their vacation, the couple began to feel unwell, and a few hours after their flight home, they were overcome by nausea and diarrhea.
According to the tourist, her fiancé “vomited seven times” and they were both hospitalized. Doctors told the tourist that it was “highly likely” that she had contracted hepatitis A, which is spread mainly from person to person through poor hygiene.
“The food hygiene at the hotel was terrible. Birds were flying everywhere, and the food was left for a long time and went stale. And then they would pour new food on top of the old. We ended up getting sick. On the way home, my partner threw up about six times. And 48 hours after returning home, I started vomiting and had diarrhea. Then I got to the point where I couldn’t keep any liquid down at all, I was throwing up and had terrible stomach pains,” the tourist said. According to her, at one point she was even warned that she might need an emergency liver transplant in Leeds, but this did not happen — although she will still have to undergo lengthy treatment and expensive tests.
