After the collapse of the lira, holidays in Turkey fell by 18%

Family holidays in Turkey have become much cheaper for tourists. However, this does not apply to Ukrainian vacationers, we are talking about the British. Such data became known from the Post Office Money study. The reason for lower prices was the fall of the Turkish lira against the British pound.

According to a regular survey of the company, resort costs for Britons fell by 18% not only in Turkey, this trend can be traced in seven of the 10 popular destinations. Based on data obtained by comparing lunch prices with drinks for a family of four, the British will spend the cheapest vacation in Marmaris. A 7-day family vacation will cost 1,776 pounds (64,000 hryvnias). Prices for lunches with wine at this resort were on average twice lower than in other areas, with the exception of the Algarve in Portugal.

The second cheapest in both categories – food and beverages – was Portugal, despite a 14% increase in spending on these items, the cost of a family dinner was 47 pounds (1700 UAH). Cyprus took third place: the cost of food and beverages fell by 18%, but in Paphos the total cost of the package was the most expensive – 150 thousand in terms of hryvnia.

As for the total cost of the package, Porec in Croatia became the third most expensive, despite the most expensive food costs – 91 pounds (almost 3300 UAH). Its total costs reached 2’177 pounds (79,000 UAH), ahead of the Costa del Sol (92,500 UAH) and Mallorca (97,400 UAH).

Here is a quote from the study: “The most expensive of the 10 areas studied was Porec in Croatia, where prices rose by 4% to 91.29 pounds [about 3300 UAH]. However, this situation is reversed when the weekly cost of food and beverages is combined with the cost of a weekly package for four people. Conversely, while resort prices in Cyprus fell sharply, the cost of a week-long trip to Paphos was twice as high as in Turkey, Portugal and Croatia. As a result, the resort looks like the most expensive holiday option for British families with a total cost of 4’132 pounds [145,500 UAH].

According to TTG Media, the company reported “growing demand” for foreign currency. Head of Travel Money Nick Boden said: “In September, sales in euros were more than three times higher than in early summer, and twice as much as sales in September last year.”

According to him, the Croatian kuna has risen to third place in their list of currency bestsellers, and sales over the past month have grown by more than 1’200% year on year. As for the national currency of the United Kingdom, it increased by 25% year on year against the Turkish lira, but, as the expert said, “we have not seen similar sales growth, but this may happen now that Turkey has been removed from the red list by the government ».

According to research, the prices for lunches with alcohol at the resorts look something like this:

in Marmaris: 34 pounds (almost UAH 1,300),
in the Algarve (Portugal): 47 pounds (1700 UAH),
in Madeira (Portugal): 71.01 pounds (UAH 2,600),
in the Costa del Sol (Spain): 71.03 pounds (2600 UAH),
in Paphos (Cyprus): 70.85 pounds (about 2600 UAH),
in Porec (Croatia): 91.29 pounds (about 3300 UAH).

For Ukrainians, the cost of rest in Turkey during the velvet season also decreased.
