Aerophobes will be able to use the hotline to communicate with pilots

Now you can get rid of the fear of flying through communication with the ship’s commander. A group of American pilots have launched the Dial A Pilot service, through which passengers with aerophobia can call pilots.

The Cue Dial A Pilot service for “frightened passengers” was launched this year, Travel and Leisure reports. Now those who are afraid to fly can “call” a pilot to calm their nerves.

As it turned out, a group of several pilots began offering worried friends and acquaintances 15-minute calls to explain everything that happened from takeoff to landing. From their initiative, a bigger idea was born.

The author of the know-how – pilot Kyle with more than a decade of experience in a major American airline – told the publication that the idea came after a conversation with his sister-in-law.

“She always called me before a flight. And we talked about turbulence. We talked about airplanes and the best time of day to fly. We talked about where different noises come from during a flight,” says the author of the idea.

Then, after talking with another pilot, he realized that he was not alone in explaining the intricacies of air travel.

“Pilots who are good at what they do love to talk to passengers and will be happy to provide their assistance,” the pilot added.

The service is simple. “All you have to do is go to the service’s website and request a 15-minute call at a convenient time. For $50, a nervous passenger will be connected to a pilot flying everything from commuter aircraft to long-haul Boeings,” the source said.

According to Kyle himself, the most frequently asked questions are about turbulence and what will happen to the aircraft if the engine fails.

“Turbulence is by far the number one issue, and the reason for this comes down to a lack of understanding of why turbulence occurs and what causes it,” he concluded.
