An unusual case happened in Egypt: a tourist who disappeared in the country of the pyramids a year ago – searches by the family and the police did not lead to anything – himself came to the embassy of his country in Cairo a year later. And categorically refuses to tell about the reason for his disappearance and about where he was for a whole year. This news was published by local mass media.
It is about a French tourist. Yann Bourdon, who disappeared in Egypt on August 10 last year, came to the French embassy in Cairo a year later. The tourist is “safe and sound”, but is silent about the reasons for the disappearance.
The story itself is like this. A year ago, Yann Bourdon arrived in Egypt at Sharm el-Sheikh Airport from Istanbul on July 25, 2021. Upon arrival, the tour headed to Mount Sinai and St. Catherine’s Monastery. Then, on July 28, his family received an email in which the tourist talked about a police officer he hitchhiked with from Suez to Cairo. A policeman dropped him off near a metro station in Cairo and invited him to dinner, which the tourist took advantage of. Then the family received another letter from the tourist on August 4, after which he disappeared. The tourist planned to return for his mother’s birthday, which he never missed, but he never arrived in France – then the family contacted the police.
The French police started the search on November 26. 16 February 2022 and the Egyptian authorities contacted the Frenchman’s family, requesting a copy of his identity card. Bourdon was last seen in Egypt a month later. His family flew to Cairo on May 21 to continue the search, but found no trace of the tourist, including with the help of the prosecutor’s office in Giza, the district of the Pyramids, where the tourist was last seen.
And almost a year after the disappearance, the tourist – alive and well – himself came to the French embassy in Cairo. First of all, he contacted his family. According to reports, the tourist plans to return to France shortly. At the same time, he rejects all requests to tell about his disappearance and where he disappeared all year, preferring to remain silent on this issue.
