A unique city will be built in Japan in case of an apocalypse: what is known about it

Japanese designers have unveiled a floating city Dogen City, which should become an “ark” for 40,000 people when the water level in the world’s oceans rises, reports the Daily Mail.

Developers at N-Ark describe the community as a “medical city by the sea” that includes underwater research facilities. Dogen City will offer “medical tourism” and daily medical care will be available to residents, according to the publication.

According to the plan, the city will consist of three main parts: the first is the outer ring, in which the main living quarters and facilities for water supply, sewerage and energy supply are located. Inside the ring there will be floating buildings that will be able to move freely, and the inhabitants themselves will be transported around the city by boats.

Even lower will be the world’s only underwater Data Center and medical research centers.

The city’s outer frame will be shaped like a ship’s hull, which the designers say will help it defend against tsunamis.

“As a modern interpretation of Noah’s Ark, the city will welcome victims of natural disasters and climate refugees,” the source said.

Many facilities will be located throughout the city, including a sports stadium, floating parks, cemeteries, prayer houses and hotels.

The architects’ ambitious plans will even grow fresh vegetables in the city using seawater farming methods. The circumference of the settlement is 4 kilometers, which will be very convenient for residents to reach anywhere in the city within an hour.

The developer development roadmap from N-Ark is currently set for 2030. The designers have yet to release any information about the project’s budget or proposed location.

This is not the first floating village concept to make headlines this year, the source clarifies, as plans were unveiled in February for an international team of Italian and British architects and designers to create an eco-friendly floating village. Presumably, it will be able to accommodate up to 50 thousand people in case global warming leads to massive floods.
