A British tourist flew to Hurghada, Egypt for a holiday and complained that she was bitten by hotel bugs on her first day of vacation. It is reported by The Mirror.
When she entered the room, Abby, 23, said the room was clean, but it “smelled like rotten stuff.” On the next day of vacation, the traveler felt nauseous and weak, and her entire body was covered with huge red itchy blisters due to bedbug bites.
As a result, the girl ended up in the hospital. The doctor, seeing these reddenings, said that for the first time in his life he had encountered such severe skin disease.
The publication notes that after injections of antihistamines, the traveler was prescribed antibiotics and allowed to return to the hotel.
“Every evening I called my mom and dad and sobbed into the phone. Everything burned and hurt, and people looked at me in such a way that I was embarrassed. One tourist asked if I had an infectious disease and if she could swim in the pool after me,”
— recalls the British. At the same time, the hotel staff agreed to move the tourist to another room only on the ninth day of her rest.
Subsequently, the girl had to go to court. At first, representatives of the hotel and the travel company claimed that the tourist brought bedbugs in her suitcase. However, the court sided with the traveler. The girl was awarded 2.5 thousand pounds.
